On my mind:

Thank you, thank you. I don’t even know where to start. BUT I’m proud of it. It’s been a frustrating three weeks tweaking little things here and there fixing lots of browser compatibility issues and bugging my friends to test the site on their browsers :) well thanks for all the help guys.

People ask me why Plaxo? Why not Facebook or Myspace like WordPress theme?

Its simply because there is already a Facebook, Myspace like WordPress theme available on the internet. Really – try googling it! Plus Plaxo’s design is consistent and readable for blog readers. The Plaxo-riffic theme has lots of new features. One of them is the custom background. You can add a custom background individually for the main index page and the single pages.

Looking at the outcome, I’m damn happy with how the theme turned out. There’s still a little work to be done, but I’m ready to release it to the WordPress-theme-O-sphere… I really wanted to add more features to the theme. Unfortunately due to time constraints couldn’t involve too much into the theme. Hopefully the next version of the Plaxo-riffic theme will have more features :) .  With all that said, feel free to report bugs here, and I’ll try to killem’ all one at a time…..

Future releases?

Hell ya…. i’m gonna develop this theme and fix bugs :)contact me, if you need anything!! I’m also planning on adding more features to the theme in the future releases, stay tuned….!!!

Connect with your existing Orkut Friends on Facebook

Last week Plaxo implements Facebook connect to sync status, feed and friends and now its Orkuts time :) ….. If you started your online social life on Orkut but later migrated to Facebook, here’s a simple import utility that will help you become friends with all your old Orkut buddies who, like you, may have also shifted to Facebook.
orkut friends on facebook

Connect Orkut with Facebook

Step 1: Drag the Facebook bookmarklet on to the bookmarks bar of your browser.

This contact importer bookmarklet initially appeared on my Facebook homepage but it’s not there anymore. Alternatively, you may click here.

orkut import facebook

Step 3: The Facebook Friend Finder tool now scans your Orkut contacts list and will then show you a subset who are also on Facebook but aren’t friends with you yet. Click “Add Friends” and you are done.

The same friend finder bookmarklet may also be used for connecting with Rediff contacts.. Happy connecting!!

Plaxo and Facebook are in open relationship – Plaxo adds new features to sync status and feeds with Facebook!

Plaxo being a social aggregator now adds Facebook connect …. Now you can connect with people in Plaxo automatically who are your Facebook friends – Sigh, no more duplicate connections. What’s more, you get to share all the information from your Facebook wall stories (like photos, links, and videos) with your Plaxo friends easily. Keep your Facebook status updated when ever you change the status on Plaxo or vice-versa.
facebook-plaxo-connect

Quick snap of what’s gonna happen if you add Facebook connect in Plaxo:

Automatically connect with your Facebook friends who already use Plaxo
Share your Facebook Wall Stories (like photos, links, and videos) with your Plaxo friends
Keep your Plaxo and Facebook status in sync

Now, you can feed the content you’re sharing on Facebook (such as photos, videos, links, and events) over to Plaxo for sharing to your friends here. In addition, you can sync your status updates between the two services (in either or both directions). And, when you share a link or post a review in Plaxo, you can also share it over to your friends on Facebook.

“We believe this is an historic day, one that marks the beginning of a new era for the Internet, characterized by an open and interoperable Social Web” says Plaxo chief architect Joseph Smarr and VP marketting John McCrea..

Sounds cool, where do I start?…. Go to http://www.plaxo.com/settings/facebook and click on the connect button. You would need to sign in to your Facebook account and grant permission that you want to add Plaxo application on Facebook. Now make sure what you want to share (Status, photos etc..) and whom you want to share it with (Business, family & friends or a group in Plaxo) :) …. Once you have done that you’re all good – Hola you’re done!

Plaxo could add the ability to sign up and sign in to Plaxo via Facebook Connect. Hope, Plaxo will continue to collaborate with Facebook add more features :) … and we’ll need wait and watch what’s coming up next :D .

Plaxo has all new and stronger commenting system with some new updates

Plaxo known for its aggregation tools from all over the social web is now up for commenting and now has a stronger commenting system! The post from Plaxo Blog tells us about the two powerful new features to give everyone a “stronger Pulse”: Comments-in-the-Stream and deep integration with the travel itinerary site TripIt.

In the latest release, Plaxo makes conversations a more central feature of the service, bringing them front-and-center in the stream, rather than only on the details page of the shared event.

Take a look at the new stronger commenting system:

plaxo-new-commenting system

Plaxo got Pulse started by aggregating public feeds (and layering on a family/friends/business permission model inside Plaxo). Plaxo did that because that was what was available at the time, and because we believed that over time feeds would go mainstream and that mechanisms would emerge for getting access to private feeds. And, indeed, that has been the case, with the accelerating adoption of OAuth. Plaxo members can now take a feed of what they are privately sharing on Netflix, Picasa, and Twitter and share that selectively into Plaxo just with family, friends, colleagues, a group (or any combination of those).

Today, Plaxo adds to the list of private feed sources the online travel itinerary site, TripIt, via a deep integration with their recently released Open Travel Itinerary API. Now you can share your travel plans with whatever subset of your Plaxo connections which makes sense to you for example your business \ family \ friends or just for your self :) ….  They’ll see your trips in their Pulse stream (and so will you).

tripit-plaxo-integration

And, if you think that’s all…. You’re wrong, there is more here! Couple of days ago I wrote about how to integrate your Facebook calendar with the Google calendar like wise now if you add tripit feed to your Plaxo account, it automatically adds events from your tripit calendar schedule to your Plaxo calendar :) sweet eh? … All this is possible using OAuth and we all know Joseph smarr is good at cranking this out really easy :D

Social job listings by Plaxo in partnership with SimplyHired!

Plaxo on Wednesday announced its partnership with SimplyHired, which offers to show job listings according to your work profile information.

What are social job listings?
When you post a job to Plaxo, you have the option of sharing it to any or all of your Plaxo network. For example, you might choose to share the listing to your business connections and to one or two groups that you’re a member of. Or you might share it to your friends and your business network. Or for that matter, you might also share it with your family, if you have family members who might be able to help source candidates! and of course, your can share it via email with anyone, whether they’re a Plaxo member or not.

On Plaxo, the listing is then like any other shared event in the Plaxo stream, which means you and the people who receive it can comment on it, and anyone who receives it can re-share it to their networks!
Here’s a quick snap of how it works:
