Search Recipes on Bing

bing search

Interested in cooking? With the Bing search engine from Microsoft you can now also search for recipes. Microsoft has added a new special feature to search recipes.

bing recipes search

Bing search now pulls information from a number of popular recipe websites, including Delish.com, to make it easy for customers to find the recipes they’re looking for. And because Bing is more than just a search engine, the Bing Recipe feature gives customers a way to sift the recipes (pun intended), so that they can actually find one that will work for their family, and find it fast enough to actually prepare for the night’s meal.

For example:

Try searching for ‘Paneer Recipes’ appear on the right one option Paneer recipes. Clicking this takes you to a page with recipes including from relish.com, MyRecipes.com and epicurious.com. Each recipe source will have the valuation of users +plus the number of calories and fat content. On the left hand side of the page, you could also find several filtering options.

When Bing joins hands with Wolfram | Alpha, we get more new features

bing

Joining hands with wolfram | alpha, Bing is rolling out a new “task-focused” version of its home page. It looks relatively the same as before, but when you mouse over different categories, you will get more search options. For example, if you mouse over “Travel,” you will get links like “find flights”, “find hotels,” and destinations you can conduct your search from there.

“There is also an interactive Instant Answer that allows you to enter your origin, destination, travel dates and…click…you are in Bing travel,” says Bing Product Manager. “Within Bing travel you have fast access to flight purchase recommendations via the price predictor that tells you the least expensive times to fly. In addition to money, you’ll save time as well with Bing travel’s comprehensive flight listing results and links to top travel sites and airlines.”

Bing is also enhancing local information for hundreds of cities looking for things like local attractions, points of interest, restaurants and other local information sources like newspaper web sites. Bing has developed enhanced city results, which include links to key information and high-resolution slide shows.

Bing is also doing a better job mining things like contact phone numbers and email addresses from web pages and displaying them clearly under a Contact banner, and generally cleaning up the interface to make it easier to decide if this a site you want to visit. It also includes images in some preview results. Bing believes that all these features will allow for a faster decision about whether a site is right for your needs, which means less clicking on your browser’s back button.

An all new Event Search feature has also been added to Bing recently, which gives users a summary of events for major cities, which can be filtered by things like performances, food & dining, fairs & festivals, music, etc.

Bing adds Twitter and Facebook status updates in search results

bing facebook and twitter

Earlier this month there was reports around a potential deal between Microsoft and micro blogging service Twitter. Now Microsoft has announced at the Web 2.0 Summit 2009 in San Francisco that the company has struck an agreement with both Twitter and Facebook social networks and the data of both services would be included in search engine results of Bing. Previously in the results of Bing certain updates from Twitter was shown but this was limited data access only. Now, Microsoft has full access to realtime data from Twitter.

If you want to give it a try, a demo is available on “http://bing.com/twitter”

Once you open the demo you see a tagcloud placed directly with the hottest topics at this time. Once you start looking for a topical subject, the most recent tweets shown beneath top links, links that are placed in the most tweets with the search. Among recent tweets a link “See more Tweets about …” to include more messages.

On this page you see tweets in real time with a top button to pause the stream. For each tweet is a retweet button that you can use to post on your Twitter page directly from Bing. On the top you can choose on which the tweets should be ranked, the choice here are “Most recent” (default) and “Best match”.

However, more details about Facebook would follow in a later stage. So Stay tuned!

Google, Microsoft both had talks with Twitter. Maybe a search deal coming soon?

Google and Microsoft were both in talks with Twitter. These negotiations were about an advanced stage where there would be to a license to tweets and to integrate search results on Google and Bing. This is interesting for both search engines because the messages posted on Twitter are often not so outdated and therefore highly topical results.

Twitter for that license would receive several million ($) and a share of the revenues of Google and Bing. Under the deal, the companies could license a full feed from Twitter which would then be integrated into the results of their competing search engines, a report on the Wall Street Journal´s technology blog said.. The deal is certainly not exclusive which means that other search engines can close off such an agreement.

{RUMOUR} Also, there is other news around Twitter. The micro-blogging service will soon be available in new languages, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

Twitter was founded in 2006 and currently has 54 million monthly users. I wonder what Yahoo is thinking!

Bing Marketing is really dumb, leaks thousands of email addresses of users!

Bing

Today Bing sent me an email notification about the new Bing & Ping preview program coz i’d signed up for the preview and asked to be contacted when it released. Then I noticed something strange, Bing marketing mail had thousands of users email address in the TO: field of the email. I should say, the Bing marketing team is really dumb. With all the excitement Bing has now has made public thousands of email addresses. If this gets into the hand of spammers you might see a lot of spam in your inbox.

And now Bing team realized the mistake and have sent an apology note!
